KELLEY / NAKATANI / NEWTON, GREG / TATSUYA / CURT - FIELD RECORDINGS, VOLUME ONE: THE BIRTHDAY (CD - USED vg++/m-)

"The two-drummers-and-trumpet lineup was recorded at a brutal live performance in an unsympathetic bar onto a digital camera which was recording too loud. The confused soundman added unwanted effects onto the mic (causing Kelley to occasionally resemble T.Kondo, though without all that annoying "jazz" stuff...) and distorted the drums through the speakers. Crowd sounds, artifacts of the recording method, and environmental noise overtake the "performers" at random, transforming what might have been simply a document into... something completely else. Hear for yourself why this is the most hated release on Intransitive (so far)! Greg Kelley, one half of anti-improv duo nmperign (as heard on int010), has performed in almost every major city in the US and throughout Europe and Japan. He has performed with Keiji Haino, Eddie Prevost, Le Quan Ninh, Kevin Drumm, Axel Doerner, Jason Lescalleet, Shoji Hano, Phil Minton and many others." (label info)
