"Recorded at The Headlands Center For The Arts, California. Violin by Tony Cross. Jefre Cantu-Ledesma (The Alps, Tarentel, Isidore Ducasse, Portraits) delivers here a darkly beautiful and plaintive piece built of violin and tape loops. The effect is mesmeric, a composition that continually suggests motion. And yet the closer you observe the more difficult it is to tell if it's moving at all - like watching a field blanketed in mist. Requiem has a crepuscular quality, but it's hard to tell in the half-light if the piece is shifting toward light or darkness. Single sided record, pressed on canary-yello, with screen-printed b-side by master screen-printer, Ulrich Schmidt-Novak. All the artwork was handmade by artists Paul McDevitt & Cornelius Quabeck using a Risograph printer in combination with spray paint. Numbered edition of 300 copies, with a photograph, insert, and download code. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering." (label info)
