"Semishigure is releasing a special series of four EPs of music initiated by the French visual artist Saâdane Afif. Each EP is connected with an Afif exhibition in 2004-2005. He has asked musicians, singers and lyricists to write a piece of music in reaction to one of these exhibitions. Each CD therefore also functions as a sort of exhibition catalogue for his current shows, as well as a stand-alone work about the interpretation of art by artists in different media. After the first two Eps (01: Portradium / Tujiko Noriko, 02: Rainier Lericolais / Marceline Delbecq), Afif continues the series with the third and fourth (final) installment. 'One Million BPM' is the transcription of an exhibition of Saâdane Afif that was held at Cimaise & Portique Art Center, Albi in 2005. First, the artist commissioned lyrics to Mick Peter, in connection with every exhibited works of art, while keeping the original titles and providing personal interpretations of each work. These texts have been passed on to Julien Perez (North) who created these six music pieces." (label info)
